This week we got a little tip from our professor on we can make sure that we craft the perfect resume so that we can get pass the ATS, Applicant Tracking System. According to the Jobscan blog, they explain ATS this way, when you apply for a job online, your resume isn’t typically going directly to a recruiter or hiring manager. It’s first being processed by an ATS. Whether that human recruiter ever sees your resume could depend on how well your resume is optimized for ATS algorithms.

Below are the links to my jobscan results & job description used for my jobscan.

I am going to definitely take a look at my resume.

I did two job scans because the job listings per company can be different. My scorers were extremely low for both 26 & 27%. What I am going to go back and do is take a look at the skills and keywords that I was missing for each position I currently want to apply for and then add those skills somehow to my resume. This way I can be found by the employer and my resume would also stand out. The important high value skills should be a must add to your resume according to Jobscan. For example, salesforce appeared in the job description 7 times of one of the jobs I was looking at and it’s not on my resume. Another important thing is job title. If the job title we're applying for isn’t listed on our resume somewhere, then we must rectify that issue immediately. Employers will automatically notice you if you have already done the position your applying for or you are actively studying and learning the position you are applying for. Jobscan suggests putting it in your resume summary if you haven’t held the position before. I will be taking a look at my resume and adding job titles to my resume summary as well.

This activity was so eye opening. We want to create the best resume we can and this assignment and website will help us do just that. I know it helped me.
